What’s your view on public displays of affection such as kissing on campus?

One day, when I was on the way to my dormitory, I saw one couple of college students kissing each other at the gate of the dormitory. At that time, I’m so embarrassed that I didn’t know how I came in. I thought, were they really love each other so much that couldn’t helping kissing on campus? I don’t think so. On public displays of affection is not wrong. But from my point of view, public displays of affection should be act in appropriate occasions and acceptable forms.

Nowadays, with the development of society and the spread of cultures, people’s thinking is gradually opened. Most people are expressed their feelings to their lover freely. So, public displays of affection are not unusual. But we should notice that showing our feelings of love is our own business after all. The word “public” means a place where there are a lot of people who can see and hear you. And “Public displays of affection” means that the acts of physical intimacy in the view of others. So, when we do something, we have to take into consideration of the others. If your public displays of affection are not appropriate, you might be made other people uncomfortable and embarrassed or offended others. In addition, if your public displays of affection are inappropriate or unacceptable, for example, in front of young children, you will be impacted on them; or in a serious occasion, it will be influenced on your reputation; or on campus, it will make students distracted and disrupt the administration of school.

Different people have different opinions on what sorts of public displays of affection are appropriate or acceptable. But in my opinion, it still has a common bound-----don’t disturb others. That is to say, when you do something, you should take into consideration of appropriate occasions and do not make other people uncomfortable. Appropriate occasions, I think, such as in a party with people who come from a common cultural background or friends who are acquainted with you, or in bars and the wedding. Acceptable forms, for instance, mild forms of physical intimacy----- holding hands, hugging or giving a little kiss. In generally, in these places or with these forms are a good way for us to display our affection.

Ladies and gentlemen, public displays of affection are not only related to your business, but also connected with others. When you do it, don’t forget to considerate the situations, remember in appropriate occasion and acceptable form.
