"告诉"一些你不知道的表达

Tell在很多人的第一印象中就是"告诉"的意思,其实他的短语有很多不同的意思,今天我来"告诉"你不知道的意思

1.all told

用于句首，句中，或者句尾。也就是all together“总共，共计”

如：I counted the books on the floor; I found that, all told, there were 50.

我数了一下地板上的书，发现一共有50本。

2. Don't tell me....!

用来表示怀疑、惊讶或者惊恐的一种句式“不至于……吧”

如：Don't tell me you didn't know that.

这你当然是知道的！

3. I can tell you

多用于句尾，表示强烈地肯定所说的话“我可以肯定地告诉你”

如：You've wronged him. I tell you.

你肯定是冤枉他了。

4 I can't tell you...

向人表达自己内心的喜悦、感激等心情

如：I can't tell you how pleased we are to have you here tonight, Mr. Nelson.

Nelson先生，您不知道今晚能请到您我们有多高兴。

5. I'm not telling!

拒绝回答提问（尤其是个人隐私方面的）时的一种说法，也就是“I'm not saying”，较正式些的说法就是No comment，“不告诉你，无可奉告”。

-Did she allow you to kiss her?

-I'm not telling!

-她允许你吻她了吗？

-不告诉你，关你什么事儿！

6. I'm telling you!

在对方对某事还不清楚，说话人只好强调自己早说过这个话“我不是告诉过你了嘛”

如：Yes, but I'm telling you——we could ring Nevin to drive us there.

当然能去，我告诉过你，我们可以打电话叫Nevin开车送我们去那儿。

10. You tell me.

在对方故弄玄虚地提出某问题时，可说这句话“我不知道，你说嘛”

例如：

-How can we take it from the box, d'you know?

-You tell me!

-知道怎么才能把它从这个盒子里弄出来吗？

-你知道就说吧
