Good morning everyone .It is my honor to stand here and give you a short speech !

Everyone here has already stay in Fuzhou for two years . But have you heard about the Fuzhou eight weirdness ? I think most of you will answer “no!” Don’t worry , now I will share you with something about them .

The first weirdness is “Banyan city three knives spread abroad”.Can you guess what are the three knives?They are “Scissors、Kitchen knife and Razor ”.It means that there are great amount of Tailors、Cooks and Barbers who are from Fuzhou have their career all over the world .

The second weirdness is “Someone in the family overseas”. It says that in Fuzhou there are many emigrants abroad .Just changle has over 400,000 emigrants.

The third weirdness is “Everyone speaks like a foreigner”. We all know that it is hard to understand the dialect of Fuzhou.Here has a funny story.One day,while a foreigner came to visit the sanfanqixiang,he met an old woman,and heard she shouting toward her son:see you tomorrow.the foreigner was shocked,said:the Fuzhou people were so great ,even an old woman here can speak English!Actruelly,the old woman just said:酱油没有了。

The fourth weirdness is “One such as canopy”. As far as we can see that Fuzhou also called banyan city(即榕城) .The reason is that at Song dynasty ,people in Fuzhou planted thounds of banyan trees . Now the banyan trees grow so huge and luxuriante, each of them just like a canopy.

The fifth wirdness is “Shoes at the door outside.”

In fuzhou you should take off your shoes before you enter a house. Do you know why? Because most floor of fuzhou’s houses are made of woden.In order to keep it clean and protect it, people like to take off their shoes at the door outside. Gradually, it becomes a habit ,and “Shoes at the door” becomes one of eight wirdness in Fuzhou.

It means “鞋子脱在房门外”in Chinese.

The sixth wirdness is” Lacquerware can not be broken”

Do you hear about the “Three Treasures of Fuzhou”(福州三宝)?the Lacquerware is one of them.Is it true that the Lacquerware can not be broken ?Of couse not,it is just show how well the quality of Lacquerware is.And because of its good quality , the Fuzhou’s Lacquerware is very famous ,not only in china,even in the world.There are different kinds of it,and one kind of it have lots of shapes and colors such as red/ blue/ black and so on.

The seventh wirdness is” Inland rivers like Meridian”。

It means that there have many rivers in fuzhou ,for example the Minjiang river(闽江) ,Wulong river（乌龙江）.There are 42 inland rivers in total,all of them make up the Fuzhou’s Meridian.

The eighth strange is“the spa at home”

It means that there are a lot of hot spring in fuzhou urban distict ,even every citizen could have spa at home. They can use the hot water to wash clothes.And many people know the hot spring of fuzhou are quite famous.
