【用法】already和yet均常用于完成时，但already一般用于肯定句中，yet一般用于疑问句和否定句中。例如：My mother had already slept when I got home. 当我到家时妈妈已经进入梦乡。Have you finished reading the book yet? 你还没有看完那本书吗？

【例句】She used to be a history teacher. 她曾是一位历史教师。

People used to think that the earth was flat.人们过去认为地球是平的。

【用法】used to意为“过去常常，以前是……”，与现在进行对比，用来表示过去的事实、情况，后接动词原形。例如：There used to be a cinema, didn’t there?从前这里有家电影院，是不是？

【例句】She likes reading on many different subjects. 她喜欢读很多方面的书。

I borrowed a book on air and water.我借了一本关于论述空气和水的书。

【用法】on和about都是介词，意为“关于”、“大约”。作“关于”解时可互相替换。on常暗示内容是专门的、学术性的，而about则指内容较为普通，不那么正式。例如：

This is a story about Mark Twain.一则关于马克·吐温的故事。

【例句】Books are my best friends. They give me knowledge and make me happy.
