EXECUTIVESUMMARY

AFICCIsurveyofFoodandBeveragesIndustryhasshownpositivegrowthtrendsduringApril-March2004-05.
TheSurveyalsoconfirmshighergrowthduring2005-06inalmostalltheproductsbelongingtoFoodandBeveragesegmentoverthecorrespondingpreviousperiod.
Theimprovementhasbeenreflectedbothinvolumetermsandintermsofvalueformostoftheproducts.Theoverallindustryhasachievedagrowthrateofabout8%intermsofvalueduring2004-05.
ThesurveyconfirmsthattheRs3584bnIndianFoodandBeveragesindustryhaveshownbuoyancyduetosomepositivefactors:
¾Government’shighpriorityfordevelopmentoffoodprocessingindustrytoencouragecommercializationandvalueadditiontoagriculturalproduce.¾Liberalreformmeasuresandvarioustaxbenefits
¾PolicyInitiativestakenbytheGovernmentintheFoodProcessingSectorwhichinclude:
