Product Is More Important

When you fail to do something, your friends are likely to comfort you: “In any enterprise, the process of making or doing something is ultimately more important than the final product.” It sounds reasonable. However, from my point of view, final product is exactly more important than the process in nowadays society.

The society is full of competition to select the superior and eliminate the inferior by comparing final product instead of the process. For a businessman, he cannot earn profit if customers aren’t content with the product and refuse to buy it. It’s rare that customers compromise to buy the goods after considering the production process. Similarly, for an ordinary student, he will not be admitted by the university if he fails to reach admission scores in the college entrance examination. The university won’t be interested in whether he spares no effort in learning process. Therefore, if we cannot achieve our goals, all the effort we make is in vain, because no one cares about our process in this society.

Some people may argue that they don’t care about the result because they learn a lot during the process. However, there are many facts show us that we learn more from the final product. Isaac Newton once said that if he had seen further, it was by standing upon the shoulders of giants. As we know, Newtonian mechanics developed based on the study of giants: Galileo, Copernicus and Kepler. Likewise, the knowledge we learn now mostly comes from the final product of previous scholars or experts. Simultaneously, some people may argue that only in the process of doing things can we realize the value of life. Nevertheless, final product can also do so. There is no doubt that a successful result can give you a sense of fulfillment while an imperfect one motivates you to improve yourself and this is how final product makes your life meaningful.

Final product not only can motivate you to survive in the fierce society but also benefit your learning and value realization of life. Therefore, it can be safely concluded that in any enterprise, the final product is ultimately more important than the process of making or doing something.
