The Increasing Population and the Decreasing Number of Wildlife

In the last hundreds of years, the number of people has risen dramatically while the number of existing species has decreased. In 1800, the population of U.S. was no more than 5 million. And in 1900, it reached almost 150 million. However, the number of species no longer existing was nearly 10 in 1600 but increased to 70 in 1900.

As far as I’m concerned, there are two major reasons why the amount of wildlife decreased. In the first place, with the number of people increasing constantly, the demand of residences increased as well. So people destroyed the forests and prairies in order to build houses. The decreasing trees and grasses contributed to the damage of animals habitats, which gave rise to the reduced amount of animals. The second reason is the pollution of environment. The waste water was discharged into the river and the flue gas was exhausted into air, which polluted the living home for the wildlife. On account that the water and the air were poisonous, it was impossible that the amount of the wildlife didnt decrease.

In terms of me, we are supposed to protect the wildlife rather than hurt them. Bringing the growth of population under control, protecting the environment and development green economy are wonderful choices for protecting wildlife. With the purpose of have a more dynamic world, we are ready to pitch in the wildlife protection.
