Jack Nicholson (born April 22, 1937) is an American actor, film director, producer, and writer.

Throughout his career, Jack Nicholson has portrayed unique and challenging roles, many of which include dark portrayals of neurotic and psychopathic characters.

Nicholson‘s 12 Oscar nominations make him the most nominated male actor in the history of the Academy Awards. (eight for Best Actor and four for Best Supporting Actor)

Nicholson has twice won the Academy Award for Best Actor, for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and for As Good as It Gets.

Randle McMurphy is an energetic, swaggering, wisecracking, non-conformist, rebellious patient. He, 38 years old, is escorted into the ward where he meets some of the bizarre, memorable patients /inmates (most of whom are voluntarily committed).

Jack Nicholson‘s acting persona as the heroic rebel McMurphy, who lives free or dies (through an act of mercy killing), had earlier been set with his performances in Easy Rider (1969) and Five Easy Pieces (1970). The mid-70s baby-boomers’ counter-culture was ripe(成熟的)for a film dramatizing rebellion(戏剧化的叛乱)and insubordination(反抗) against oppressive bureaucracy(官僚机构)and an insistence upon rights, self-expression, and freedom.

Louise Fletcher--Nurse Mildred Ratched

Louise Fletcher (born July 22, 1934), is an American film and television actress.

She played the role of Nurse Ratched in the 1975 film One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress, BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. 

Other notable film roles include Brainstorm (1983), Firestarter (1984), Flowers in the Attic (1987), 2 Days in the Valley (1996), and Cruel Intentions (1999).

Mildred Ratched is the head administrative nurse at the Salem, Oregon State Hospital, a mental institution where she exercises near-absolute power over the patients' access to medications, privileges, and basic necessities such as food and toiletries. She capriciously revokes these privileges whenever a patient displeases her.

Will Sampson---"Chief" Bromden

Will Sampson (September 27, 1933 – June 3, 1987) was an American actor and artist.

Sampson, a Native American Muscogee (Creek), was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and was an imposing 6' 5" (1.96 m) tall. Sampson's most notable roles were as "Chief Bromden" in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and as "Taylor the Medicine Man" in the horror film Poltergeist II.

A silent, dignified(有威严的), huge and towering Indian giant “Chief” Bromden, aka (也可以叫)"Broom" (Creek Indian Will Sampson in his film debut) - a "deaf and dumb Indian" “as big as a god-damn tree trunk" - with a father blinded after many years of alcoholism(酗酒).

Brad Dourif--- Billy Bibbit

Brad Dourif (born March 18, 1950) is an American actor who gained early fame for his portrayal of Billy Bibbit in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and has since appeared in a number of memorable roles.

He is best known for his leading role as Charles Lee Ray aka Chucky in the Child's Playfranchise, Deputy Clinton Pell in Mississippi Burning, Younger Brother in Ragtime, Piter De Vries in David Lynch's Dune,Gríma Wormtongue in The Lord of the Rings and Doc Cochran in the HBO television series Deadwood

A pathetic, incessantly stuttering(结结巴巴地说话), paranoid(偏执狂患者) boychild, thirty-year old Billy Bibbit (Brad Dourif in his film debut) - shy, virginal, impressionable(敏感的), and deathly afraid of his mother. In the end, he couldn’t take the pressure and killed himself.

Director---Miloš Forman

Miloš Forman(born February 18, 1932)is a Czech-American film director, screenwriter, and professor.

Two of his films, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Amadeus, have acquired particular renown, both gaining him an Academy Award for Best Director. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was the second to win all five major Academy Awards (Best Picture, Actor in Lead Role, Actress in Lead Role, Director, and Screenplay).

Screenplay---Bo Goldman

Robert "Bo" Goldman (born September 10, 1932) is an American writer Broadway playwright and screenwriter. To date, he has received two Academy Awards out of three nominations.

Goldman's calling card, Shoot the Moon, was then filmed by Alan Parker and starred Diane Keaton & Albert Finney. The film received international acclaim and was embraced by America's most respected film critics.

He wrote The Rose (1979), which was nominated for four Academy Awards, this was followed by his original screenplay Melvin and Howard(1980) which garnered Goldman his second Oscar, second Writers Guild Award and the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Screenplay of the Year.

After reading Shoot the Moon, Miloš Forman asked Goldman to write the screenplay for 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'. The film won all five top Academy Awards including an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Goldman.  For his work on the film Goldman also received the Writers Guild Award and the Golden Globe Award.
