My Definition Of Success Different people may have different views towards success. As far as I am concerned, success is the courage to pursue your dream and insist in it. As we all know, Jeremy Lin seldom played in his rookie season and was assigned to the NBA Development League three times. He was waived by the Warriors and the Houston Rockets before joining the Knicks early in the 201112 season. At that time, he was also discriminated for his Asian face. However, he never gave up and unexpectedly led a winning streak by New York while being promoted to the starting lineup in February 2012. So, success has nothing to do with money, fame or reputation, and everyone, regardless of race, gender, class or even economic background, has an equal right to success, because each person has the right to develop his own ideals and to pursue those ideals.
The Importance of Recycling Recycling refers to the process of collecting used materials which are usually considered as 'waste' and reprocessing them. In this process these used materials are sorted and processed to be used as 'raw materials' for the production of new products. Recycling helps to minimize the presence of waste materials in our communities. Items such as glass, paper, and plastics were regarded as trash and discarded. Through recycling they are being reused to create new products. And it also means that recycling saves energy. When new products are manufactured from 'virgin materials', the amount of energy consumed is much higher. Besides, the energy required to acquire and transport the 'virgin' raw materials from their natural sources is also saved. Thirdly, to a great extent, recycling helps in preventing global climate change. The processing of fresh raw materials also creates toxic materials which pollute the environment such as methane, sulfur dioxide, carbon-dioxide. By reducing the amount of harmful pollutants in the environment, recycling saves environmental conditions and reduces pollution. Though recycling seems negligible, the combined efforts of all people do make a huge difference in our world.
Dreams VS Reality We, the 80’s generation, live in a fast developing society with abundant goods and colorful life. We grow up lightheartedly under our parents’ wings, which makes us consider our future as bright and nice blindly. However, when we see the real world, we find the society is crueler than we imagined with high unemployment, poor salary, skyrocketing housing, hard life and absence of belief. When dream experiences reality, how to handle well ourselves become quite important. In my opinion, dreams like a beacon, illuminate our way in the future. While reality is like bramble, hold up our steps forward. What we should do is recognizing the reality and pursuing our dream bravely despite the failure, disappointment and challenges. Where there are challenges, there are opportunities. We never regret for what we did, but we only regret for what we haven’t done, so just let the dream lighten the reality with our unremitting efforts. 4It's Necessary To Say "No" Sometimes One of the most difficult challenges many of us face is saying no. We don’t want to offend or disappoint people. As a result, we have to spend too much of our time and energy on doing things which seriously interferes our work. In fact, not only do we have to devote
most of our time but also our heart. Consequently, we don’t have enough time and energy for ourselves to pursue our goal. Therefore, even if a request is legitimate and important, sometimes we have to say “no”. Saying “No” doesn’t mean there will be conflict nor that you’ll lose opportunities in the future. You have your own priorities and needs, just like everyone has his/her own needs. Saying no is about respecting and valuing your time and space. Learn to say no to requests that don’t meet your needs, and once you do that you’ll find how easy it actually is. You’ll get more time for yourself, your work and things that are most important to you.
The Meaning Of Life Many people always doubt about the question: What's the meaning of life? And different people hold various opinions towards this issue. Some think that they live for money, some for fame, and some for fun. As to my opinion, people should live for his or her inclinations. Modern society is filled with pressure. Most people feel tired during daily life. Our inclinations always enforce us to things with passion. Steve Jobs, my idol, is best known as the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Apple. He lived for his digital career. He was widely recognized as a charismatic pioneer of the personal computer revolution. Over the past decades, Jobs oversaw the development of the iMac, iTunes, iPod, iPhone, and iPad, and on the services side. The success of these products and services, not only providing stable financial returns, propelled Apple to become the world's most valuable publicly traded company, but also changed people’s communication habits and narrowed the distance between people. He was described as the "Father of the Digital Revolution". Though he had a short life, he made his life valuable.
