Passmarks
Thepassmarkforeachmoduleis50%(thisincludesanyLevel3modulesincludedinaPGTprogramme.
Compensationandre-sits
Compensation
Wheretheaverageofthetotalmarksinallmodulesis50%orabove,amarkintherange40–49%shallbedeemedcompensatablein‘taught’modulestotallingupto20credits;compensationcannotapplytoany‘independentresearch’modules.Marksmayonlybecompensatedifstudentsareregisteredontoanaward.Compensationshallnotbeappliedwheremorethan20creditsarefailed.
Studentswhodonotregisterontoanaward,butregisterontoindividualmodulescannothaveanycompensatablemarks.
Re-sits
Studentswhoareregisteredontoanawardandfailoneormoremodulesatthefirstattemptshallbepermittedtopresentthemselvesforre-examinationinthefailedmodule(sononemoreoccasionduringtheregistrationperiod.[Pleaseinsertdetailsofwhenre-sitswilltakeplaceandopportunitiesforre-submissions.]Marksachievedinre-sits/re-submissionsshallberecordedastheactualmarkachievedbutshallbeflaggedinthetranscripttoindicatethattheywereachievedatsecondorsubsequentattempt.
Forstudentswhoregisterontoindividualmodulesthereshallbenocompensationforanymodulesthatarenarrowlyfailed(seeabove;ifsuchstudentsfailoneormoremodulestheycaneither:
(iRe-sitorre-submit(asappropriatethefailedassessment(satthenextre-sitorre-submissionopportunity.Studentsmayre-sitorre-submitanyfailedassessments,andnormallywillnotbelimitedastothenumberofopportunitiesforre-sitorre-submissionwhilethemodulecontinuestobedeliveredbytheUniversity.However,onlycreditfromfailedmodulesthatarepassedatthefirstre-sitattemptmaybecountedtowardthefinalaward.Marksachievedatre-sitorre-submissionwillberecordedastheactualmarkachievedbutshallbeflaggedinthetranscripttoindicatethattheywereachievedatasecondorsubsequentattempt;or
(iiRe-takethewholemodule;allmarksachievedwillreplaceallpreviously
achievedmarksanditshallbeflaggedonthetranscriptthatthemodulehasbeentakenpreviously;or

Studentswhoattendforaminimumperiodof12monthsoffull-timestudy,orpart-timeoveramaximumregistrationperiodof6years,andwhoachieveaminimum180creditpointswithnotmorethan30creditpointsatLevel3,andsuccessfullycompleteadissertation/researchprojectworth60creditsortwoindependentresearchmodulestotalling60credits(includedwithinthe180credits,willbeeligiblefortheawardofaMaster’sdegree.
Studentswhoattendforaminimumperiodof30weeksoffull-timestudy,orpart-timeoveramaximumregistrationperiodof5years,andwhoachieveaminimumof120creditpoints(whichmayincludedissertation/independentresearchcreditstothevalueof60creditswithnotmorethan30creditpointsatLevel3,willbeeligiblefortheawardofaPostgraduateDiploma.
Studentswhoattendforaminimumperiodof15weeksfull-timestudyorpart-timeoveramaximumregistrationperiodof3years,andwhoachieveaminimumof60creditpoints(whichmayinsomecircumstancesincludeupto30independentresearchcreditswithnotmorethan15creditpointsatLevel3,willbeeligiblefortheawardofaPostgraduateCertificate.
Achievinganaward;accumulatingcredit
WhenastudentonaCPDprogrammeachievestheawardforwhichtheywereregistered,eitheraPostgraduateCertificateoraPostgraduateDiplomatheyshallhavetheoptionofacceptingtheaward,ortheymayreturntheawardandusethecredittheyhaveachievedtocounttowardsachievingahigheraward,eitheraPostgraduateDiplomaoraMaster’sDegree,andtheywillberegisteredontothenewaward.Thiswillnormallybesubjecttotheregistrationperiodofthenewaward.
WhereastudentisregisteredonindividualCPDmodulesfromanapprovedCPDprogrammethefollowingapplies:
