1. Good afternoon, distinguished professors and teachers, my dear classmates and friends. My name is Chen jing. I’m honored to be here to share my paper with you. First of all, I would like to thank my supervisor professor Gao, Thanks for her responsible instructions, precious suggestions and inspiring encouragements. She is especially generous in providing valuable references. Without her encouragement and support, I could never finish the essay. Special thanks also go to associate the teachers of Opening Speech, A special note of thanks would go to the professors and teachers at Foreign Language Department， I am grateful to all the teachers who have guided me to accomplish my paper. I have learned a lot from their suggestions, including how to see through the appearance to perceive the essence. And my warm thanks are also due to my friends, with whom heated discussions have been of great help and pleasure.

2. Next, I will introduce the main idea of my paper. I hope you can enjoy it. My topic is The Cultural Differences Between Chinese and American Festivals. Due to the differences of historical background ,religious beliefs, cultural habits and values, the festivals between China and America are diverse. Festivals are the precious cultural heritage of different countries, so different festivals reflect different historical background cultures of different countries. This paper help us to realize the peculiarity of Chinese and American festivals , and understand the cultures.

With the rapid development of society and inter-cultures, globalization affects politics, economics, cultures, and even life of every country. Therefore, we not only understand the different cultures of different countries, but also promote our communications with them.

The paper also remind more people, particularly the young, know better and like their own cultures, so as to build up national confidence and national pride and develop the Chinese festivals and good traditions from generation to generation

5. Part five draws some conclusions。To sum up, Chinese and American festivals are just like windows of their different cultures, traditions, beliefs and values. To learn different festivals is to promote cross culture communication. We should know the origins and the ways of celebration to understand the different cultures, so as to communicate each other and understand each other well. It will be much easier for both Chinese and Americans.
