第二节
One Possible Version:
Dear David,
I’m glad that you’re interested in the silk culture of China and the Belt and Road Initiative. I’ll be more than happy to tell you something about them.
As a matter of fact, silk has a long history in China, which dates back to the Neolithic Age. It is known to all that it is made of silkworm cocoon. So it is not only elegant but also environmental. Therefore, silk attracts people all over the world. From Han Dynasty, China opened up The Silk Road, which greatly promoted the communication between China and the other countries in the world.
At present, our government has put forward “The Belt and Road” Initiative, which encourages cooperation between China and other countries. There is no doubt that it will have a great effect on all the relevant countries and contribute to the economic and cultural development of the world.
I’m looking forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

(Text 10)
Cars are an important part of life in the United States. Without a car most people feel that they are poor. And even if a person is poor he doesn’t feel really poor when he has a car.
There are three reasons the car became popular in the US. First of all, the country is a huge one and Americans like to move around in it. The cars provides the most comfortable and cheapest form of transportation. The second reason is that the United States never really developed a good and inexpensive system of public transportation. Nowadays there is a good system of air-service provided by planes. But it is too expensive to be used frequently. The third reason is the most important one, though. The Americans spirit of independence is what really made cars popular. A car gives them more freedom to arrange their own time.
The gas shortage has caused a big problem for Americans. But the answer will not be a bigger system of public transportation. The real solution will have to be a new kind of car, which does not use so much gas.
