1. Structures review: yes/no; this is/isn’t

1) Hold up the picture side of each flashcard in turn. Have the children name the object on each card.

2) Hold up each card in turn again. Say. This is a (bag). Use some correct names and some incorrect names. Have the children answer yes or no. If the answer is no, have the children then say, This isn’t a (pen). This is a (pencil).

2. Listen and match

1) Have the children open their books at page 64 and find the six pictures at the top of the page.

2) Play the first sentence. Then play it again and have children point to the correct character as they listen to the tape.

3) Repeat the procedure for the other five pictures.

4) Play the tape again. This time have the children number the pictures as they hear the sentences.

1) Ask the children to look again at the pictures of Ann, Ken, and Kate at the top of the page. Display your copy of the page. Point to the first picture and ask, Who’s she? Elicit the correct sentence, She’s Ann.

2) Repeat the procedure for the pictures of Ken, Kate, and Mocky.

3) Point to the picture of Ann. Say, He? Elicit the answer no.

4) Repeat the procedure for the other pictures, saying He? or She? to elicit yes or no.

4. Touch and say

1) Draw the children’s attention to the pictures at the bottom of the page.

2) Display your copy of the page. Point to Ann and then read aloud what she is saying. Point to each word as you read it. Now point to the picture of Ann’s father.

3) Repeat the procedure for Mocky's sentence.

4) Read the sentences again. This time have the children repeat them after you. Encourage them to point to the appropriate characters while they do so.

5) Now go through the same procedure for Ken, this time pointing to Ken’s mother. Do the same for Mocky.

6) Have the children repeat the sentences after you, using their own books and pointing to the appropriate characters.

5. Structures review: this/that

1) Choose eight children. Give each child one of the character masks for Ann, Ken, Mocky, Uncle Booky, Danny, Lulu, Cathy, or Tommy.

2) Have the children stand in a circle, each holding up a mask.

3) Hold up your mask of Danny. Say, That is Danny. Point to one of the children’s character masks. Say, This is Lulu. (Substituting the correct name).

4) Now have the child whose mask you point to repeat the procedure. After saying This is (Lulu). And substituting the correct name for his or her mask, the child should indicate another child in the circle and say, That is (Mocky).

5) Continue until all the children have had a turn.

6. Summary.

1) Summary the conversation of this period.

7. Set homework

Display page 65 your book, before explaining the homework task, ask the class to tell you the English word for each picture. Explain that you want the children to:

1) Write the missing letter at the beginning of each word and color the pictures.

2) Tell their families the word for each picture.
